Just days after Mike and I went to Hong Kong and Macau, we had to pack our bags again for our next voyage, this time a trip to Singapore with my high school buddies. Our first day was spent doing a walking tour of the city landmarks.

Here is the Singapore Flyer, which I think is the tallest Ferris wheel in the world. One rotation takes about 30 minutes.

More of our day at Ngong Ping 360, Lantau Island.

Po Lin Monastery is a Buddhist monastery founded in 1906 by three monks. "Po Lin," literally translated, is "Precious Lotus."

More of our day at Ngong Ping 360, Lantau Island.

A short trek at Ngong Ping 360 will lead to the Wisdom Path. Professor Jao Tsung-I wanted to make a large-scale reproduction of an original calligraphy featuring the Heart Sutra which he donated in favor of the Hong Kong government. The calligraphy was carved on to giant wooden columns reminiscent of bamboo tiles (zhujian) used for writing in ancient times.

Our first out-of-the-country trip together was a three-day trip to Hong Kong and Macau. On our last day, we took a bus ride to Ngong Ping 360 at Lantau Island.

This is the Tian Tan Buddha, more commonly known to locals as "Big Buddha."

More of our DIY cultural tour of Macau.

While not as busy as Senado Square, St. Dominic's Square is still pretty busy since it is like the center from which smaller streets branch off to notable destinations (one branch leads to Senado Square, another leads to the Cathedral, and another leads to Sao Paulo).

The busy shopping district is also home to St. Dominic's Church, an 18th century building that is said to be one of Macau's best preserved colonial baroque structures.

More of our DIY cultural tour of Macau.

The famous Senado Square (Largo do Senado) is a paved area enclosed by the Leal Senado, the General Post Office, St. Dominic's Church and the street, Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro. The square features traditional Portuguese pavement in black and white mozaic.

Sao Paulo (The Ruins of St. Paul) is the ruins of a 16th century complex of buildings, including the Cathedral of St. Paul also known as “Mater Dei,” a 17th century Portuguese cathedral dedicated to Saint Paul the Apostle. Sao Paulo is listed as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. There are 66 steps leading to the ruins.

More of our DIY cultural tour of Macau.

Located at Rua da Felicidade, Fat Siu Lau is said to be the oldest existing restaurant in Macau featuring Portuguese-style cuisine. Fat Siu Lau was established by Mr. Wong Man Sing and is now run by the 3rd and 4th generations of Wong Man Sing’s family.

More of our DIY cultural tour of Macau.

Translated, Rua da Felicidade means "Happiness Street." The street got its queer name from the fact that it was once the heart of Macau's red light district. Now it's an exotic/vintage shopping street with awesome wares and legit Chinese architecture.

Fiji also became a staple of my travels. The very first trip where I brought Fiji was our Chinese New Year trip to Pangasinan with my officemates from Bengzon Negre Untalan IP Attorneys.

To cap off the year, my last assignment for my 52 weeks photo project for 2012 was “Self-Portrait.”
"TRAVEL" is the word that best described my 2012. It was that year when my husband and I traveled extensively. We went to Hong Kong and Macau, which was our first out-of-the-country trip together. This trip was followed immediately by a trip to Singapore and Kota Kinabalu. We’ve also had several domestic trips to places in the Philippines that we have never been to. And we capped off the year by spending Christmas in Bohol, another first for my family. Hence, my itchy (& dirty) feet reflect the me of 2012.

Yey! Done with my Project 52! On to more shots and IP.
