My
Style
Portraits
with a photojournalistic approach. Pictures that reflect the lifestyle and
personality of the baby/child/family. Shots that document the moments that the
family wishes to remember forever. Images that are as natural as possible.
Lifestyle portraiture under natural lighting.
In
my lifestyle portrait sessions with babies, children and families, I strive to
capture the personality of every child and their special moments and emotional
bond with their loved ones. These are not the usual studio
portraits with a lot of props, some sort of theme, and sometimes uncomfortable poses. Instead,
I take a photojournalistic approach--more of candids and capturing the
newborn/baby/child/family in their natural settings, doing what they naturally
do, in available light. The goal is to document your lifestyle and hopefully
reflect the personality of the subject and the dynamics and connection of the
family.
I
have been told that the key to good photos is to photograph what truly
interests you. In my case, children fascinate me to no end. In fact, I became interested in child portraiture after faithfully documenting the growth my own son. So I take pictures with a mother's eye and I am comfortable
handling delicate newborns and hyper-active toddlers.
Location
Since
I want to capture and document your baby, child, family's lifestyle and natural
setting, the portrait sessions are always on location. I prefer to take your
picture in places you actually frequent or are meaningful to you--your home,
the street in front of your house, your neighborhood playground, or your
favorite park, restaurant, church, mall or beach. I especially enjoy home
service--you have invested on that cute nursery, we might as well show it
off. Locations outside of Makati or Los Banos, Laguna may be subject to some
extra transportation fees.
What to expect at the portrait session
I aim to have a fuss free, casual and fun portrait shoot. A session is usually about 90 minutes. Because I take a
photojournalistic approach to photographing your baby/child/family, it would be
good to come up with something to do, while I document you as you go about your
activity. There will still be minimal direction from
me and some "look here" and "smile into the
camera" shots. But 80% of the time, I will just be in the background
taking shots and let your family interact, spend time together and have fun. During
the pre-shoot interview, I can help you decide what activity you can do during
the shoot.
What you get
Within
one or two weeks from the shoot, you will get about 30 or more high-resolution
edited digital files sent through a download link. You are free to have the
files printed, framed, uploaded on online, but always provide proper
attribution to me as author of the work, and respect my copyright over the
work. There's a chance I will post your photo on my blog, on Facebook, in my
portfolio, or enter it into a contest. I hope you will consent to this, and if
not, please let me know before our engagement.
Events
I
also cover children's events such as birthdays and baptisms.
